Konica Minolta FD-7 Spectrodensitometer
Outstanding Features of Konica Minolta FD-7
M1-Compliant Optical Brightener Compensation Technology
Modern printing papers are frequently coated with Optical Brightening Agents (OBA), causing colors to shift when viewed under different light sources. The Konica Minolta FD-7 completely resolves this issue by fully complying with the ISO 13655 standard across 4 specialized measurement conditions:
M0: Traditional Illuminant A light source.
M1: D50 light source (Standardized paper fluorescence, mandatory in printing industry ISO workflows).
M2: UV-Cut filter (completely eliminating the ultraviolet component).
M3: Polarization filter – Enables measurement of wet inks directly on the press without errors caused by specular surface reflection glare.
Proprietary Ambient Light Measurement Feature (Target Match)
Target Match Function & Intelligent Color Formulation
Target Match: The device automatically calculates and guides the press operator on exactly how much to increase or decrease the ink density (Density) percentage on the fountain keys to bring the current press sheet color as close as possible to the master sample (Target Color).
Automatic Scan Measurement: Supports rapid scanning of color bars along the sheet edge to evaluate the quality of the entire print run within seconds.
Digital Engineering – Massive Internal Memory
Unlike lower-end models, the FD-7 can store hundreds of target colors (Targets) and complete Pantone® color libraries directly, eliminating the need for continuous computer connectivity.
The sharp color LCD display intuitively renders tone value increase charts, dot gain analysis, and spectral reflectance graphs.
Advanced Real-World Applications of Konica Minolta FD-7
The Konica Minolta FD-7 spectrodensitometer is the ultimate instrument within the QA/QC workflows of:
Premium Packaging Printing Corporations: Executing high-end printing for cosmetics boxes, pharmaceutical packaging, tobacco cartons, and export brand labels for global corporations (such as Nike, Apple, Samsung, Unilever…).
Industrial Ink Blending Plants: Establishing formulation recipes for spot colors and verifying the consistency of base ink batches before pressroom delivery.
Professional Pre-press Centers: Calibrating proofing printers to achieve a 99% match compared to actual production Offset or Flexo print runs.
