CHN SPEC FS-15 Multispectral Camera (900~1700 nm)
The CHN SPEC FS-15 Hyperspectral Camera (Compact SWIR Hyperspectral Camera) is a non-destructive material analysis device operating in the short-wave infrared band from 900 nm to 1700 nm. Part of the brand’s SWIR product line, the CHN SPEC FS-15 stands out with its compact design, delivering powerful “see-through” capabilities and chemical structure analysis but at a more accessible investment cost. This is an ideal choice for businesses and research institutes looking for a spectrometer device to integrate into basic Machine Vision systems or small to medium-scale quality control lines.
Outstanding Features
Short-wave infrared band (900 – 1700 nm): Like high-end SWIR cameras, the FS-15 interacts strongly with the characteristic absorption bands of water (O-H bonds) and organic compounds/polymers (C-H bonds). This helps the camera easily identify moisture, fat content, and protein, and distinguish chemicals with identical surface colors.
Compact design & Optimized integration: The FS-15 has the advantage of a compact size and light weight. This makes the device extremely flexible when it needs to be installed on microscope stands in laboratories, mounted on industrial robotic arms, or integrated into narrow spaces on automated production lines.
“See-through” solution (NDT): In the SWIR waveband, some opaque materials such as silicon wafers or thin plastic films become transparent. The machine leverages this characteristic to operate as an optical X-ray scanning tool, detecting physical defects, air bubbles, or foreign objects hidden inside the product structure.
Decoding the black plastic sorting problem: The camera removes the barrier of traditional optical technology (which is disabled by black color). With SWIR rays, the FS-15 can “read” the spectral fingerprint of each type of polymer, helping to accurately sort black plastics such as PET, PE, and PP in the recycling industry.
3D data block (Hypercube) export: The device scans samples and generates a multidimensional data block (X, Y, λ), providing visual information about the distribution of chemical composition across the entire sample surface. This data is highly compatible with AI and Machine Learning software to automate the QC process.

Practical Applications
With its flexibility and standard SWIR waveband, the CHN SPEC FS-15 excellently solves many real-world inspection problems:
Agriculture & Food Processing:
- Mapping the distribution of moisture and fat content in meat, fish, and grains.
- Evaluating ripeness, detecting bruises or mold hidden deep under the peel of fruits.
- Automatically detecting foreign objects (stones, wood, plastic fragments) mixed in food processing lines.
Recycling Industry: Identifying and sorting different types of plastic waste on conveyor belts; particularly highly effective in recycling scrap black plastics.
Semiconductor Industry (Semiconductor/Solar): See-through inspection of monolithic Silicon Wafers or optoelectronic cells to find micro-cracks prior to assembly.
Education & R&D: A perfect device for university research centers and corporate labs to develop material recognition algorithms, analyze pharmaceutical ingredients, or evaluate the quality of industrial coatings.
