CHN SPEC FS-19S Short-Wave Infrared Hyperspectral Camera (900~1700 nm, 724 fps)
The CHN SPEC FS-19S Hyperspectral Camera (SWIR Hyperspectral Camera) is an optical image acquisition device operating entirely in the short-wave infrared band from 900 nm to 1700 nm. With a frame rate of 724 fps (frames per second), the FS-19S is designed to balance the material “see-through” capability and investment cost. This device helps users bypass external color factors to directly evaluate chemical composition, moisture, and hidden defects deep inside the material.
Outstanding Features
- Standard acquisition speed (724 fps): The scanning speed of 724 frames per second helps the machine operate stably and smoothly on production conveyors with standard speeds or in laboratory sample scanning systems. Although not possessing the “massive” speed of the 19M or 19X versions, the FS-19S still perfectly meets the requirements of automated quality control (QC).
- Short-wave infrared band (900 – 1700 nm): SWIR rays have a strong interaction capability with the molecular structure of matter (especially water, lipids, proteins, and polymer bonds). The camera collects these “spectral fingerprints” to quantify the chemical composition that the naked eye or conventional cameras cannot see.
- Perfect solution for black plastic: Sorting black plastic is a major challenge in the recycling industry because the black color absorbs all visible light. By using SWIR rays, the FS-19S easily identifies and accurately distinguishes different types of black plastics (such as PET, PE, PP, PVC) to automate the scrap sorting process.
- “See-through” capability for opaque materials: The SWIR band has the characteristic of penetrating certain materials such as Silicon semiconductor wafers, thin plastic films, or packaging shells. This turns the camera into a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) tool, helping to detect air bubbles or impurities located inside the product structure.
- 3D Data Cube (Hypercube): The machine records a multidimensional hyperspectral data block including spatial (X, Y) and spectral (λ) dimensions. This data is easily compatible with Machine Learning analysis software and AI algorithms to build automated recognition models.

Practical Applications
With a speed of 724 fps and a versatile SWIR waveband, the CHN SPEC FS-19S is an ideal device for industrial and research applications:
Materials Recycling & Sorting: Automatically identifying and separating polymers on recycling conveyors; specifically, an economical and effective solution for processing black plastic.
Food & Agricultural Product Industry:
- Measuring the distribution of moisture, fat content, and protein in meat, fish, and grains.
- Detecting dangerous foreign objects (such as stones, wood, plastic fragments, glass) that accidentally fall into the food processing line.
- Evaluating bruises hidden deep under the peel of fruits.
Semiconductor Industry: Seeing through monolithic Silicon wafers or solar panels to inspect for micro-cracks and internal physical defects.
Pharmaceuticals & R&D: Evaluating the uniformity of medicinal powder ingredients; inspecting tablets through thin plastic blister packs.
